The Aluminium Covered Conductor (ACC) "Dog" is a specialized overhead power distribution line that typically features an ACSR (Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced) or AAAC (All Aluminium Alloy Conductor) core protected by an insulating cover. This "covering" (often XLPE or HDPE) reduces phase-to-phase clearance requirements and prevents faults caused by tree limbs or wildlife.
